Mainnet Ambassador Program Update

Welcome to the first Ambassador Program update post-mainnet! We’re so excited to be here with you, and couldn’t be more grateful for the support, ideas, and excitement that our ambassadors have brought to the program. Through highs and lows, we’ve all united around and worked towards a vision of a better, more secure internet.

The Ambassador Program started over 2 years ago with one intention: bring together people from all over the world who are passionate about Aleo and want to support the project by driving adoption, raising awareness, and strengthening the community. While the mission has stayed the same, the Ambassador Program has evolved quite a bit. We introduced several new ambassador categories, including Governors (who help run the decentralized governance process) and Maestro Checkers (who keep the work of the ambassadors aligned with the Aleo mission).

Aleo has gone through big changes as well. We officially launched the Aleo Network Foundation to help guide and support the network, with a focus on open-source governance, developer engagement, and promoting zero-knowledge cryptography applications.

The Future of Ambassadors

One big question remains: what will the Ambassador Program look like now that we’ve launched mainnet? The good news is that it’ll look very similar to the current program. There will still be the three main ambassador roles: Apprentice, Voyager, and Maestro. Everyone will still need to contribute content and collect Aleo Points (which have no inherent value) in order to stay in the program. Maestro Checkers will still be checking the work of the ambassadors, and Governors will be responsible for maintaining and encouraging decentralized voting for updates to any Aleo program (including the ambassador and grants programs) as well as updates to the network.

The main change post-mainnet is in the content we expect to see. In the past, we have encouraged ambassadors to write blog posts, design GIFs, and translate blogs or technical material. Now, we expect all monthly contributions to be directly related to mainnet and all ambassadors must interact with the chain.

See below for the updated Activity Table:

Ambassador Token Distribution

As all ambassadors are well aware, Aleo points hold no inherent value. The points are a means of participating in the ambassador program and keeping note of top contributors. Since Aleo points hold no inherent value, we wanted to think of other ways to engage our community alongside the official launch of mainnet and to thank them for being a part of this project throughout the years.

We have therefore created an allocation of Aleo Tokens to be distributed to ambassadors who are part of the program.

A few things to note:

  1. Aleo Ambassadors will go through the claims process outlined in the following blog: Understanding the claim process for Incentive Programs

  2. We will be distributing Aleo Tokens to ambassadors based on ambassador ranking and contributions. Do not ask us for the specific number you will be receiving or we will remove you from the program. There are over 400 ambassadors that we need to account for and we cannot answer one-off questions.

  3. Consistent with our distribution to all token recipients, there is a one-year lock up period from the date of mainnet launch for all Aleo Tokens.

  4. To show our appreciation for the amazing contributions and all your hard work in building this great community, we have doubled the pool of Aleo Tokens that was initially allocated to ambassadors from 2 million to 4 million.

As we continue growing the project, it will become increasingly important to put safety measures in place to do our best to avoid people getting scammed. As to address this, we’re introducing a #verified-links channel below the Welcome category on Discord. Please make sure to always click links only coming from that channel. We will update it regularly.

This is a very exciting time for the Aleo community and we can’t wait to see how you engage with the chain after mainnet. As always, you can catch the community team on Discord if you have any questions.
